About the Company

Our client is a B2B research advisory and management consulting company working with enterprise clients.

The company had deep expertise, strong industry knowledge, and valuable insights. But very little of that expertise was translating into discoverability or inbound demand online.

Most website traffic came from branded searches or prospects who already knew about the company through outbound activity. Non-branded organic traffic was negligible, there was no established content engine, and social and other distribution channels were contributing very little.

In simple terms, the company could be highly credible in its field and still remain invisible to a large part of its potential market.

Growth9’s job was to change that.

We needed to turn the company’s expertise into a repeatable organic acquisition engine that could build authority, capture relevant search demand, and generate qualified inbound opportunities.

The Challenge

The challenge wasn’t simply that the company needed to publish more content.

It needed to build the entire infrastructure around content.

There was almost no meaningful traffic coming from non-branded searches. The company didn’t have an established blog operation capable of consistently capturing relevant search demand, and existing content wasn’t being systematically distributed across other channels.

More importantly, the company sold to large enterprise clients.

Its typical sales cycle could stretch anywhere from 12 to 18 months.

That meant generating a lead today didn’t necessarily create revenue tomorrow. Even if SEO started producing inbound opportunities, the company still needed a way to remain useful and relevant throughout a long buying journey.

We therefore had to solve four connected problems:

  • Build organic visibility for non-branded, commercially relevant searches.
  • Turn internal expertise into content that established genuine authority.
  • Create a distribution system so content wasn’t dependent on Google alone.
  • Build lifecycle marketing capable of nurturing prospects through a 12-18 month enterprise buying cycle.

What we did for them?

Growth9 approached organic growth as more than an SEO project.

We built a system around content creation, search visibility, distribution, lead capture, and long-term nurturing.

Here’s what we did:

  • Built two different content engines: Not every piece of content needed to do the same job.

The company needed one content engine capable of bringing new audiences into the funnel and another capable of demonstrating deeper expertise to prospects already evaluating its services.

So we developed a broader top-of-funnel SEO content strategy alongside more specialized, subject-matter-expert-led content for the middle and bottom of the funnel.

The first helped create discovery.

The second helped establish credibility and gave potential buyers stronger reasons to engage with the company.

  • Turned SEO into an acquisition channel: The company was receiving negligible traffic from non-branded searches, so we built a search strategy around long-form, research-driven content.

Instead of publishing generic articles simply to target keywords, we focused on topics where the company could demonstrate genuine expertise and provide useful information to potential buyers.

Alongside content creation, Growth9 worked on search visibility and strategic backlink acquisition.

Over time, organic traffic grew from approximately 300 users per month to 11,000 users per month.

  • Built a content distribution engine: Publishing an article and waiting for Google to rank it wasn’t enough.

We created processes for distributing both existing and new content across multiple channels, increasing the number of opportunities prospects had to discover the company’s expertise.

This also meant individual pieces of research and thought leadership could continue generating value after publication instead of disappearing into the blog archive.

  • Improved the path from content to lead: Traffic only becomes commercially useful when the right visitors have a clear path toward becoming prospects.

We improved lead-capture mechanisms and aligned content more closely with the information prospects needed during their buying journey.

That helped turn growing organic visibility into actual inbound demand rather than simply producing larger traffic numbers.

  • Built lifecycle marketing around a 12-18 month buying cycle: The company’s enterprise sales cycle meant many prospects weren’t ready to buy after their first interaction.

Rather than allowing those leads to disappear, we continuously segmented inbound prospects and built longer nurture sequences and newsletter campaigns around them.

This helped keep the company visible and relevant while prospects moved through months of research, internal discussion, and vendor evaluation.

The result was a much tighter connection between SEO, content, and eventual sales opportunities.

  • Expanded authority beyond owned content: Search rankings alone weren’t enough to establish the company as a recognised authority.

Growth9 also supported authority-building through earned media mentions, strategic backlinks, and online events, helping extend the company’s credibility beyond its own website.

The Results

The organic growth system transformed search and content from a limited brand-support function into a meaningful inbound acquisition channel.

Our work resulted in:

  • 230% YoY increase in organic traffic
  • Organic traffic scaling from approximately 300 to 11K users per month
  • 120% YoY increase in inbound leads
  • Stronger search visibility around relevant industry topics
  • Increased thought-leadership authority through earned media, strategic backlinks, and online events
  • A lifecycle system capable of nurturing inbound prospects through a 12-18 month enterprise sales cycle

Takeaway

The biggest mistake in B2B content marketing is assuming that publishing more articles automatically creates demand.

It doesn’t.

The breakthrough came when SEO, subject-matter expertise, distribution, lead capture, and lifecycle marketing began operating as one system.

SEO created discovery.

Expert-led content built authority.

Distribution expanded reach.

Lead capture turned attention into identifiable demand.

And lifecycle marketing kept the company in the conversation throughout a buying journey that could last more than a year.

That system helped increase organic traffic by 230% YoY and inbound leads by 120% YoY, while scaling monthly organic traffic from roughly 300 to 11,000 users.

That’s how we approach organic growth at Growth9.

We don’t produce content simply because a company needs a blog. We build content and distribution systems around the way buyers actually discover, evaluate, and eventually choose a business.
